About Us
Aasha Collective was established in the fall of 2024 and exists to provide employment opportunities to human trafficking overcomers and at-risk women in Nepal.
Our Story
Aasha Collective began as a heartfelt response to the urgent need for empowering women in Nepal, a developing country where many women face the harsh realities of poverty, a patriarchal society and open borders that have led to a human trafficking epidemic. Our founders, inspired by their faith and a deep commitment to social justice, envisioned a place where every human trafficking overcomer could embrace her God-given creativity, skill, and talent. As a trained, skilled artisan she would have the opportunity to earn a dignified wage, take pride in her work, be part of community, and be able to dream about a bright future. With this vision in mind, Aasha Collective was born aiming to transform the lives of these overcomers through the creation of premium, handcrafted products that would be sold worldwide. The name 'Aasha,' meaning 'hope' in Nepali, encapsulates our mission to bring hope and dignity to the lives of these women and other women around the world.
From the very beginning, we said that Aasha Collective is not a business; it is a movement dedicated to social change. We established our employment center in the heart of Nepal, providing a safe and supportive environment where women could learn and refine their skills as seamstresses and handicraft artisans. Through vocational training programs, these women not only gain valuable skills but also the confidence to pursue their dreams and break free from the cycle of poverty. Each woman’s journey is a testament to resilience and hope, reflecting the transformative power of meaningful employment and community support.
The products created by the women of Aasha Collective are more than just items for sale; they are embodiments of hope and resilience. Our range includes beautifully hand-embroidered totes, pouches, and charming felt handicrafts like ornaments, bag charms and mobiles. Each piece is meticulously crafted, carrying with it the unique story of the woman who made it. These products are handmade by overcomers, and come with a signed card that we hope will create a personal connection between the artisan and the customer. By purchasing these items, customers become part of a larger narrative of empowerment and change.
One of the core values of Aasha Collective is our commitment to preventing human trafficking. To this end, we ensure that 100% of our net proceeds are reinvested into our mission, funding vocational skills training and awareness programs. This holistic approach not only provides immediate financial support to the women we work with but also contributes to long-term societal change. By raising awareness of the issue and offering tangible solutions, we invite people from all over the world to join us in our fight against human trafficking, creating a global community united in compassion and action.
Today, Aasha Collective stands as a beacon of hope and transformation. Our journey is a testament to what can be achieved when faith, purpose, and community come together. We continue to expand our reach, touching more lives and sharing more stories of hope with the world. Through our work, we aim to show that every daughter has the potential to thrive and make a positive impact on her community. We invite you to be a part of this journey, to support our mission, and to help bring hope from one daughter to another.
